POPULAR QUESTIONS

  • Should I consider using synthetic oil?

You do not have to use synthetic oil unless your vehicle owner’s manual requires it.  However there are advantages since synthetic oil is resistance to breakdown using synthetic oil can prolong the life of your engine.

  • Why do I keep having to add oil?

If you constantly need to add oil to your car or truck you may have an oil leak which is common around the oil pan gasket.  But in some case vehicles that require light weight oil which is thin can lose oil over time because it’s easy for the oil to leak through piston rings and gaskets.

  • How often should I change my oil?

The common time frame to change your oil is every 3,000 miles.  If you drive in extreme conditions such as heavy stop and go traffic, hot or cold weather or do a lot of towing you may want to change your oil sooner.  On newer vehicles the owner’s manual may suggest you change your oil every 5,000 miles or more.  You must consider these numbers are based on optimal operating conditions.  Engine oil is like blood and without the engine will die.  So it’s very important to keep your oil full and clean.
